Overcoming Lethargy and Having More Energy

Experiencing lethargy is more common in modern times since people became less mobile. People are always feeling tired after doing very little throughout their day. Whereas there are others who are active and may have more energy. People who are moderately active tend to have some level of energy and sleep well at night. Being fatigued can be related to lethargy since it is deficient in energy. There can be a number of reasons why people are lethargic and it does vary from person to person. Here are some reasons:

  • Lack of sleep.
  • Unbalanced diet.
  • Stress.
  • Medical Issues.
  • Frequently inactive.
  • Dehydration.

There are processes a person can overcome lethargy and it is imperative for health and being productive. Without energy, a person cannot maintain themselves or accomplish their tasks due to being lethargic. The issue today is that many people sit or lie in bed for too long as it is comfortable. Many jobs can be done remotely which are sedentary jobs, so there is less activity in the body. To expand further there is less blood flow (blood circulation).

This is associated with being frequently inactive most of the time. When combined with processed foods it makes a person feel fatigued. Therefore, consuming foods that are high in bad fats, refined carbohydrates, and sugar makes one sluggish. So, consuming foods that are high in vitamin b helps a person feel energetic. Also, the individual should consume enough foods to meet their calorie intake. Undereating can cause some fatigue since the person is not meeting their body’s requirements.

Feeling like this most of the time.

Food for Energy

Food is fuel for the body to function properly as foods offer macronutrients and micronutrients for the body’s needs. Whole foods are what are important to consume since they are full of nutritional value. Primarily, a plant predominant diet consisting of mostly fruits and vegetables. It is a great practice to reduce the consumption of animal or animal products. This is not to say to convert to veganism (only if you would like to) but it can be the most efficient diet because foods are easier to digest. But do keep in mind whole foods are the main focus to better the body. Here are some ideal meals:

  • Vegetable Pho.
  • Buddha Bowl.
  • Tofu with rice and one choice of vegetables.
  • Fish with two sides of vegetables.
  • Mixed Bean Bowl.

Nutritional-dense foods are what provide a person with a healthy and energetic body. Most of it needs to be plant-based, about 80% of a person’s diet should consist of fruits and vegetables. Anything that is processed is difficult for the body to process moreover, the individual will not receive the important nutrients.

Movement For Energy

When a person is immobile for a long period of time the individual begins to feel tired. Although, there is not much physical movement the person may feel saturated. The body is designed to move and stand upright so it functions better. When staying in the same position (sitting down or lying in bed) for a long period of time there is less blood and oxygen flowing in the body which is imperative. So here are some ways to stay a little bit more active:

  • Practice Handstands.
  • Practice Back bridging.
  • Dead Hangs (horizontal bar required).
  • Downward dog.
  • Practice different squat variations.
  • Yoga.
  • Walking.

A great practice is to do things in increments since it keeps the body moving and increases the flow of blood and oxygen.

Example:

Morning: Dead Hangs 3 sets 20 of sec holds.

Afternoon: Squats 3 sets of 10 reps.

Night: Back Bridging 3 sets of 15 sec holds.

Sleep

Adequate sleep is crucial for the person to feel recharged. In other words, giving the body time to rest and recover. When a person sleeps or rests it is essentially when the whole body is given the opportunity to recharge. The body can experience trauma such as doing physical work which can wear and tear the body down. Although moving is ideal for the body to gain energy it is also important to recover afterward depending on how much work was put on the vessel. Some practices a person can use to help them to get a great night’s rest:

  • Meditation in the dark. This puts the environment in a tranquil vibe and makes it easier to meditate.
  • Showering can help a person sleep better at night.
  • Do not go to sleep on a full stomach. Consume food 3 to 4 hours before bed.
  • Stretch the back, hips, and neck. It gives a person a relaxing feeling.

Conclusion

Overall, people who get tired are those who suffer from lethargy. There are a number of ways to prevent lethargy or gain energy. The three components that are essential are food, activity, and rest. They all contribute to gaining energy since it is providing nutrients, blood flow, oxygen, and relaxation. With all these combined people will have more time to be productive or do whatever is needed in their day. If in any case if feeling fatigued most of the time it is best to get assessed by a physician to figure out what is best to mitigate the issue. Many times people can be feeling mentally ill, but there are always solutions to an issue.
